Experiential learning in regenerative agriculture
At Good Shepherd Farm Education, we believe that agriculture should be sustainable, ethical, and accessible to all. We are committed to promoting sustainable agriculture practices, protecting the environment, and improving food security. Through our Farm to Foodbank program we are able to donate fresh, sustainably grown produce to local food banks.
We believe closing the loop is important for sustainable building of soil. We have partnered with Bartow County Schools to create a kitchen compost program. We operate bi-weekly kitchen scrap pick-ups at local schools. The scraps are transported to our composting facility where it is processed . Once fully composted, it is used to grow fruits and vegetables for the schools.
Our on-farm focus is creating opportunities for experiential learning. We host groups of students and adult learners interested in sustainable ag for hands on workshops, tours, and work days. We also work with local schools and special needs programs in building on-site vegetable gardens for more intensive learning experiences. .
